Me to We Assembly

On Friday, May 27th. we had a Me to We assembly. We invited Mr. Bakshi and Mr. Claire to come to the assembly because they donated and supported us and we wanted to honor them. Alicia Doo from the Free the Children organization was also at the assembly.

Sadie, Simran, Anjana, Laura, and Meili ran the whole assembly. Sadie made a Prezi to go along with what they were talking about. They talked about our guests donating money and about how we reached our goal. Then Alicia Doo talked about how Free the Children started. She told everyone about countries in poverty and how Craig Keilburger and 12 other kids started to help. Now a lot of kids are a part of Free the Children to help other countries in poverty. Then we gave the cheque to Alicia Doo and took some pictures. Mr. Lattimer summarized what Me to We did in the past two years and we ended the assembly with Hearts Around the World.

After the assembly, we had a lunch  in the library. All our members brought food to share.  Our guests joined us and we had a big celebration. The Me to We club got a chance to talk to the guests and we also had fun. Mr. Bakshi and Mr. Claire gave a speech about what they thought of us helping other countries. Then Mr. Lattimer brought out an ice-cream cake to celebrate what we have done. It was a big day for the Me to We club and we hope to see pictures of the school next year.

Our Me to We group also received the Big Dreamers Award from Free the Children. We will get an extra $5000 for the community our school is being built in India. We have raised $13,500 in the past two years.
